A wide range of podiatry burs are available to enable you to carry out the most thorough and meticulous foot care possible. But do you know how to use the burs in the various Podiatech ranges? To help you, here's a summary of their different uses.
Podiatry burs for handpieces
Zirconium burs
This range of gold-plated burs provides silent operation and high abrasion with reduced heat build-up. They are used for dry techniques and their grooves allow chips to be evacuated.
- The hard-coated bur (Zrn) for sanding normal nails and treating calluses.
Tungsten carbide burs
A wide range of different parts is available for the foot care professional. These burs are silver-plated, have a high abrasion rate and low heat build-up. Their concentricity ensures rotation without vibration, and there are models specially designed for left-handed users.
- The fine helical tooth bur for milling and polishing fine and normal nails. It is also used to finish nails and skins.
- The fine cross-cut bur for milling and finishing fine nails.
- The standard cross-toothed bur for sanding normal nails and contouring deformed nails.
- The coarse cross-cut bur for sanding thick nails and treating calluses.
- The very coarse cross-cut bur for sanding very thick nails and treating severe calluses.
- The single cross-cut bur for treating hyperkeratotic nails and thick nail calluses.
- The left-handed bur that rotates in the opposite direction. It is used to treat normal nails.
Diamond burs
We offer a wide range of diamond burs with pieces, each with its own specific use. These have a rough texture, good abrasion longevity, and effective cooling due to their grooves. There is no possibility of overheating with these models, whether used in dry or wet applications, and they allow for gentle abrasion.
- The standard grit round bur allows for polishing the lateral edges of thick nails.
- The wide flame-shaped bur with coarse grit allows for work on the heels.
- The standard fine-grit conical bur allows for working on the periungual grooves and the lateral edges of fine nails.
- The ball-shaped bur with standard grit for excision and drilling of the nail.
- The rubynit bur with natural ruby grit for working on fine, mycotic nails and calluses.
- The hollow bur for abrasion of hard calluses
- The dia-duo bur for abrasion of heel calluses.
Ceramic burs
This range is an ideal alternative to tungsten carbide burs for patients with metal allergies. Ceramic burs are lighter but also more fragile than tungsten carbide burs. They provide gentle abrasion and generate minimal heat build-up.
- The cross-cut bur for sanding thick nails and treating fungal infections.
Polishing burs
- The Abrasive corundum bur for nail finishing and orthoplasty polishing.
- The polishing bur for polishing orthoses.
Podiatry burs for turbines
We also have a range of diamond burs designed for turbines.
Diamond burs
- The standard ball-shaped bur for the excision of corns and drilling of the nail.
- The standard round conical bur for working on periungual grooves and the lateral edges of nails.
